A Tasty Stage Debut for Louisa

Learning her lines for Stage Struck proved an easy experience for Louisa Jackson. The prompt for the Guild Players production, which opens tonight (Thursday), was her mother Linda so help was always on hand. Obviously she knows the words as well, so I had no trouble practising mine at home said Louisa, 20, of St. Leonard’s Road, Deal. The production can be seen for three nights at The Kilshawe Theatre in St. George’s Hall, High St., Deal and the curtain goes up at 7:30pm. Louisa is a newcomer to the amateur dramatic group and it is the first time she has been included in the cast. She plays the part of the helpful usherette and barmaid Rita and the role includes the need for a stage kiss as part of the plot. Unfortunately the stage manager does not look too much like Keanu Reeves! But it is all part of the story so it had to be done said Louisa. She is a former pupil of the Parochial School in Deal and Walmer School and as a teenager attended a stage school based in a church hall in Deal. Apart from parts in school plays, she also took lessons in ballroom and Latin dancing and always intended to join a local drama group. After school she became a student at Thanet and gained a national diploma in hotel and catering, becoming a restaurant supervisor. Unfortunately she was made redundant and now works at Holts Battlefield Tours, based in Market Street Sandwich. I had to work shifts when I worked in the hotel and now I am it Holts I have more time in the evenings. So in May I went along to see a Guild Players production and decided to join said Louisa. Stage Struck was written by Bettine Walters and it is her second original play for the group – the first was Curtain up on Murder premiered last year. It is set in a theatre’s front of house and tells of the tribulations taking place in one day in the life of the manager. Apart from Louisa, there are two other newcomers to the players – Tony Johnson plays the Don Juan and Gill Litton is the chairman’s unhappy wife finding solace in the bottle. The three in their first parts with the society are proving very valuable assets said the play’s author, who is also the Director
